The 2025 Horse of the Year and the Pacific Classic winner will begin their breeding careers at Jonabell Farm, while Darley announces its 2027 stallion fees ahead of the Breeders’ Cup.
LEXINGTON, KY — October 14, 2026 — Darley America has announced that 2025 Horse of the Year Sovereignty and Grade 1 Pacific Classic winner Knightsbridge will join its prestigious stallion roster at Jonabell Farm in Kentucky for the 2027 breeding season.
The addition of these two outstanding racehorses represents a major development for Darley’s breeding operation. The announcement comes as the Thoroughbred industry prepares for the 2026 Breeders’ Cup World Championships at Keeneland.
Darley also confirmed that Nyquist will lead its 2027 roster with a stud fee of $225,000, while the introductory fees for Sovereignty and Knightsbridge will be announced after the Breeders’ Cup.
Sovereignty: A Champion Begins a New Chapter
One of the most accomplished Thoroughbreds of his generation, Sovereignty will bring an exceptional racing record to his new career as a stallion.
The son of Into Mischief earned the titles of 2025 Horse of the Year and Champion Three-Year-Old Colt following a remarkable season that included victories in the Kentucky Derby (G1), Belmont Stakes (G1), and Travers Stakes (G1).
He continued his success as a four-year-old in 2026, adding the prestigious Whitney Stakes (G1) to his list of accomplishments.
According to Darley, Sovereignty is the only horse in history to win the Kentucky Derby, Travers Stakes, and Whitney Stakes. He also joins Street Sense as one of only two Kentucky Derby winners to capture the Travers during the past 30 years.
His exceptional performances were supported by outstanding speed figures. Sovereignty earned a 115 Beyer Speed Figure when winning the Travers by an impressive 10 lengths and recorded a 112 Beyer in the Whitney.
His other graded stakes victories include the Street Sense Stakes (G3) at two, followed by the Fountain of Youth Stakes (G2) and Jim Dandy Stakes (G2) at three.
Darley describes Sovereignty as the fastest son of Into Mischief, making him an important new addition to its stallion lineup.
Knightsbridge: Outstanding Speed and Elite Pedigree
Knightsbridge, a son of Nyquist, will also begin his stallion career at Jonabell Farm in 2027.
The Grade 1 winner established himself as one of the leading older dirt horses of 2026, collecting five graded stakes victories.
His most notable accomplishments include a dominant six-length victory in the Pacific Classic (G1) and an 11-length triumph in the Gulfstream Park Mile (G3), where he earned a 112 Beyer Speed Figure.
However, his most remarkable performance came in the Monmouth Cup (G3), where he won by 10 lengths and recorded an extraordinary 122 Beyer Speed Figure, the highest figure recorded since Flightline, according to Darley.
Knightsbridge also offers an outstanding pedigree.
He is out of Tyburn Brook, a daughter of Bernardini, and is a half-brother to fellow Darley stallion Speaker’s Corner. His second dam is Round Pond, winner of the Breeders’ Cup Distaff (G1) and Acorn Stakes (G1).
The combination of elite speed, Grade 1 success, and a distinguished female family positions Knightsbridge as an exciting addition to the American breeding industry.
Nyquist Leads the 2027 Roster at $225,000
Darley confirmed that Nyquist will remain its highest-priced stallion in Kentucky, standing for $225,000 in 2027.
The Kentucky Derby-winning sire has produced 13 career Grade 1 winners and 16 yearlings that sold for at least $1 million.
His outstanding 2026 season includes major performances from Knightsbridge, Metropolitan Handicap (G1) winner Nysos, and Darley Alcibiades Stakes (G1) winner Emphatic.
Other successful runners include Immersive, winner of the Fleur de Lis Stakes (G2), Growth Equity, winner of the Peter Pan Stakes (G3), and Iron Honor, winner of the Gotham Stakes (G3).
Nyquist also enjoyed exceptional commercial success during the 2026 yearling sales.
Eleven of his yearlings sold for more than $1 million, including a $3.2 million session-topper at Saratoga and a $2.25 million session-topper at Keeneland.
He is expected to have several representatives at the upcoming Breeders’ Cup, including Knightsbridge, Emphatic, Gaudreau, and Immersive.
Maxfield Rises to $75,000 Following Breakthrough Success
Another major highlight of Darley’s announcement is Maxfield, who will stand for $75,000 in 2027.
The son of Street Sense has emerged as an important young sire, producing 18 stakes horses from his first crop.
His leading performers include Englishman, a multiple Grade 1 winner and Breeders’ Cup Sprint contender who earned a 117 Beyer Speed Figure. Darley reports that this is the highest figure recorded by a three-year-old colt since Flightline.
Maxfield is also represented by Mashallah, winner of the Prioress Stakes (G3). The filly earned a 106 Beyer Speed Figure in her debut at Keeneland, one of the most impressive performances by a three-year-old filly in recent years.
Cody’s Wish, Essential Quality and Other Darley Stallions
The 2027 roster will also feature several established and promising stallions.
Two-time Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile winner and former Horse of the Year Cody’s Wish will stand for $55,000. Street Sense will be offered at $35,000, while Essential Quality, sire of Pennsylvania Derby (G1) winner The Puma, will remain at $25,000.
Speaker’s Corner, whose first crop includes Oak Leaf Stakes (G2) winner Domain Expansion, will have his 2027 fee announced after the Breeders’ Cup.
Meanwhile, Proxy, winner of the Clark Stakes (G1), will stand for $7,500. Both Proxy and Cody’s Wish will have their first two-year-old runners competing in 2027.
