Trainer John Sadler reports positive progress as several Grade 1 winners continue their preparations for the 2026 Breeders’ Cup World Championships at Keeneland.
ARCADIA, California – October 10, 2026 – With the 2026 Breeders’ Cup World Championships approaching, several prominent contenders continued their preparations at Santa Anita Park on Friday, October 9. Among them were Super Corredora and Full Serrano, two Grade 1 winners trained by John Sadler who are targeting championship races at Keeneland on October 31.
Super Corredora Targets Breeders’ Cup Distaff
Reigning Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1) champion Super Corredora completed a four-furlong workout in 48.00 seconds, marking her first timed workout since returning to competition with an impressive victory in the Zenyatta Stakes (G2) on September 27.
The talented filly returned from a six-and-a-half-month layoff to dominate the 1 1/16-mile Zenyatta Stakes in front-running fashion. Her victory also secured an automatic berth in the $2 million Breeders’ Cup Distaff (G1) through the Breeders’ Cup Challenge Series.
Super Corredora will now look to add another Breeders’ Cup championship to her record after winning the Juvenile Fillies at Del Mar in 2025.
Full Serrano Prepares for Third Consecutive Dirt Mile Appearance
Stablemate Full Serrano also worked on Friday, covering six furlongs in 1:13.40.
The experienced Grade 1 winner is preparing for a possible third consecutive appearance in the Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile (G1).
Full Serrano captured the 2024 edition at Del Mar before returning to the same track in 2025, where he finished fifth. A return to Keeneland would give him another opportunity to compete for the championship.
Sadler expressed satisfaction with both horses following their workouts.
“They worked well. We’re happy with them,” Sadler said.
Formidable Man Continues Training for Michael McCarthy
Another notable name on Friday’s workout tab was Formidable Man, the 5-year-old son of City of Light trained by Michael McCarthy.
The two-time Grade 1 winner completed five furlongs in 1:00.00 on Santa Anita’s main track.
Formidable Man finished second in the 2025 Breeders’ Cup Mile (G1) at Del Mar. Earlier this year, he earned his second Grade 1 victory by capturing the Shoemaker Mile at Santa Anita in May.
His most recent appearance came in the Mint Millions Invitational (G3) at Kentucky Downs, where he finished seventh as the 2.69-1 favorite.
Sorrento Sky Works Toward Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint
Sorrento Sky, trained by Phil D’Amato, also returned to the work tab as he prepares for a possible appearance in the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint (G1).
The 5-year-old gelding by Prince of Lir worked four furlongs in 49.20 seconds on Santa Anita’s training track.
It was his first timed workout since winning the Eddie D Stakes (G2) on September 26 over Santa Anita’s hillside turf course.
That victory strengthened his credentials as a contender in the Turf Sprint division heading into the Breeders’ Cup.
Countdown to Keeneland 2026
The 2026 Breeders’ Cup World Championships will take place on October 30 and 31 at Keeneland Race Course in Lexington, Kentucky.
With the official pre-entry deadline scheduled for October 19, trainers are entering an important phase of their final preparations.
For Super Corredora, Full Serrano, Formidable Man and Sorrento Sky, the coming weeks will be critical as their connections work toward securing their places among the world’s best Thoroughbreds.
Agentes 305 will continue following the leading contenders, workouts and preparations ahead of the 2026 Breeders’ Cup World Championships at Keeneland.
