LEXINGTON, Ky. (Sept. 24, 2026) — The momentum continued Thursday at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale, where Session 10 produced a fourth consecutive day of across-the-board gains and a $260,000 colt by Vekoma led the action.
Purchased by Pin Oak Stud and consigned by VanMeter Sales, the session topper is out of the winning Take Charge Indy mare Don’t Charge It. His extended family includes stakes winners Shop Till You Drop, Competitive Speed, Our Shopping Spree, In Rome, Winning Romance, Jack Hammer, Our Moneyman and Gotham Gala.
Another Strong Session at Keeneland
Keeneland sold 311 yearlings through the ring for $14,219,000 on Thursday, representing a 13.16% increase in gross sales compared with the corresponding session in 2025, when 298 horses generated $12,565,000.
The session average climbed 8.43% to $45,720, compared with $42,164 last year, while the median increased 6.67% from $30,000 to $32,000.
Those gains added to what has been a remarkably strong September Sale.
Through the first 10 sessions, 2,338 yearlings have sold through the ring for $525,899,500, producing an average price of $224,936 and a median of $125,000.
Compared with the same point in last year’s auction, gross sales are up 5.14% from $500,189,500, while the average has increased 6.67% from $210,872 and the median is 4.17% higher than last year’s $120,000.
One of the most notable indicators of the strength at the top of the market has been the number of seven-figure transactions. Seventy yearlings have sold for $1 million or more, compared with 56 during the corresponding period in 2025.
McPeek Leads Thursday’s Buyers
Kenneth McPeek, agent, finished as Thursday’s leading buyer after spending $715,000 on five yearlings, including two purchased for $210,000 apiece.
One was a Maclean’s Music colt, consigned by Ashview Farm, agent. Out of the winning Tiznow mare Sky Gesture, the colt comes from the family of Grade 1 winner and influential sire Tapit, champion Rubiano, and graded stakes winners Madefromlucky, In Tune, Dubleo and Glitterman.
McPeek also went to $210,000 for a filly by Complexity, consigned by Brookdale, agent. Out of the Quality Road mare Imprint, she descends from the family of Group 1 winners Gold and Ivory, Heart of Darkness and India.
Another yearling reached the $210,000 mark when Millard R. Seldon Revocable Trust purchased a colt by Dialed In from Ledgelands, agent. The colt is out of My Lil Shamrock, a winning stakes-placed daughter of City Zip.
Two Fillies Reach $200,000
Two additional yearlings changed hands for $200,000 each.
Burns Racing purchased a filly by Jackie’s Warrior, consigned by Killora, agent. She is out of Gran Letizia, a winning daughter of Broken Vow, and comes from the family of Group 2 winner King of Light and Group 3 winner Spirit Bird.
Iconic Thoroughbreds also paid $200,000 for a daughter of Maclean’s Music out of the Malibu Moon mare Hughes Clues. Consigned by Norevale Farm, agent, the filly’s family includes Grade 1 winner Bevo and graded stakes winners Wilburn, Beethoven, Grand Sonata, Moonlight d’Oro, Moonlight Sonata and Ballerina d’Oro.
Taylor Made Sales Agency finished as the session’s leading consignor, selling 36 yearlings for $1,664,000.
With two sessions remaining, the Keeneland September Yearling Sale continues to demonstrate considerable depth across multiple levels of the market, with increases in gross, average and median and a significant rise in the number of million-dollar yearlings compared with 2025.
