Godolphin LLC’s Whitney Stakes (G1) winner Sovereignty closed as the 3-1 favorite upon the completion of betting Sunday in Pool #1 of the Longines Breeders’ Cup Classic Future Wager. A $2 wager on Sovereignty will pay $8.04. Also winner of the 2025 Kentucky Derby (G1) and Belmont Stakes (G1), the 4-year-old son of Into Mischief led the field of 22 horses and one “All Other Starters Not Listed” wagering interest in the first Future Wager pool for the $7 million Longines Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1), which will be run Oct. 31 at Keeneland Race Course in Lexington, Ky.
The Longines Breeders’ Cup Classic Future Wager, which is a win bet only with a $2 minimum, generated $178,906 in total handle on Pool #1.
Sovereignty, trained by Bill Mott, was followed by defending Longines Breeders’ Cup Classic winner Forever Young (JPN) at 9-2 ($11.04). Owned by Susumu Fujita and trained by Yoshito Yahagi, 5-year-old Forever Young successfully defended his Saudi Cup (G1) title earlier this year. Phipps Stable and St. Elias Stable’s Golden Tempo, winner of this year’s Kentucky Derby and Belmont Stakes, was next at odds of 8-1 ($19.08) for trainer Cherie DeVaux.
Just behind Golden Tempo, at 9-1 ($20.64), was Godolphin’s Knightsbridge, winner of the Pacific Classic Stakes (G1), also trained by Mott. The fifth choice was Winchell Thoroughbreds LLC’s Dubai World Cup (G1) and Stephen Foster Stakes (G1) winner Magnitude, trained by Steve Asmussen, at 11-1 ($24.22). CRK Stable LLC and Grandview Equine’s Baeza, runner-up in the Stephen Foster Stakes (G1), was next at 12-1 ($26.82).
The wagering interest of “All Other Starters Not Listed” closed at 17-1 ($36.32), followed by Wathnan Racing’s Leading Change, winner of Saturday’s Travers Stakes (G1), at 18-1 ($39.86) for trainer Brad Cox.
The field for the Longines Breeders’ Cup Classic Future Wager was reduced to 23 betting interests with the scratch on Friday of Antiquarian, who was retired prior to the opening of Pool #1 wagering.

The Longines Breeders’ Cup Classic Future Wager enables fans to bet on possible contenders for the Longines Breeders’ Cup Classic well in advance of the World Championships in October. Odds on horses in the Future Wager pools could be more attractive than those available on Oct. 31.
Pool #2 of the Longines Breeders’ Cup Classic Future Wager will open on Friday, Sept. 25, at 12 p.m. ET and will close at 6 p.m. ET on Sunday, Sept. 27.
Betting on Pool #2 of the Longines Breeders’ Cup Classic Future Wager will be offered via Breeders’ Cup partner FanDuel and other advanced-deposit wagering (“ADW”) sites, racetracks, casinos, simulcast centers, and off-track betting sites.
