Red Big Farm in Hokkaido (Japan), shared this news today, March 12th in their website:
We are pleased to announce the addition of Laurel River (USA) to our stable, which will begin using him as a stud this season.
He won his first graded stakes race in April at age three, and placed second in the G3 Lazaro Barrera Stakes (6.5 furlongs) the following month in his first graded stakes race.
The winner, The Chosen Vron, later won two G1 sprint races.
At age four, he won his first graded stakes race, the G2 Pat O’Brien Stakes (7 furlongs), by 3.75 lengths. The field in that race was filled with strong contenders: 2nd place American Theorem (winner of the G1 Bing Crosby Stakes),
3rd place Senor Buscador (future winner of the G1 Saudi Cup),
4th place Speaker’s Corner (winner of the G1 Carter Handicap),
5th place The Chosen Vron (same as above),
6th place Defunded (future two-time G1 winner),
7th place Get Her Number (winner of the G1 American Pharoah Stakes).
At age six, this horse’s highlight came in the G1 Dubai World Cup (2000m), where he won by 8.5 lengths.
2nd place Uxbatesoro and 3rd place Senor Buscador had both placed 2nd and 1st, respectively, in their previous race, the G1 Saudi Cup.
This performance earned him a tie for first place in the 2024 World’s Best Racehorse Rankings (rating 128 (I) – the other winner was City of Troy).
As you can see, this horse has demonstrated unparalleled speed on dirt.
His sire, Into Mischief (2026 stud fee: $250,000),
was the leading North American sire for seven consecutive years until last year (tying Bold Ruler for an incredible record),
and has sired 27 Grade 1 winners to date.
This includes three Kentucky Derby winners (Authentic (Horse of the Year),
Mandaloun, Sovereignty) and eight Breeders’ Cup winners (with nine wins)
(Goldencents (Dirt Mile), Covfefe (F&M Sprint), Gamine (F&M Sprint), Authentic (Classic), Life Is Good (Dirt Mile), Wonder Wheel (Juvenile Fillies), Citizen Bull (Juvenile),
Ted Noffey (Juvenile)).
Of Into Mischief’s offspring, Laurel River is one of the most accomplished racehorses,
and has won the highest prize money (approximately US$7.5 million).
His maternal lineage is a renowned one, having produced such foals as Bago and Machiavellian.
We are truly grateful to Juddmonte Farms for entrusting us with such a wonderful horse.
The stud fee will be determined and announced in two weeks.
Going forward, together with our syndicate members, we will fully support the stallion Laurel River, so we ask for your continued patronage.
