Japan’s reigning three-year-old champion, Museum Mile, is officially pointing toward an international encore.
The dual Group 1 winner — victorious in both the Satsuki Sho (Japanese 2000 Guineas) and the prestigious Arima Kinen — will make his next appearance in the G1 Dubai Turf, with Cristian Demuro confirmed to retain the mount. Fresh off being crowned JRA Best Three-Year-Old Colt, Museum Mile arrives at Meydan carrying both elite credentials and rising global expectations.
Sunday Racing president Shunsuke Yoshida emphasized that the decision was strategically driven by distance suitability.
“Every jockey who has ridden him agrees that around 2,000 meters is where he truly excels,” Yoshida explained, reinforcing the belief that the Dubai Turf’s configuration plays directly into the colt’s strengths.
Reflecting on the depth of last season’s Japanese classic generation, Yoshida added that the championship title carried special meaning. “Last year’s three-year-old crop was incredibly strong. To come out on top in that group is something we’re genuinely proud of.”
Museum Mile will not be the only Japanese headline act eyeing Dubai glory.
Jantar Mantar, recently honored as Japan’s Best Miler, is also under consideration for the Dubai Turf, signaling a potential tactical shift in his campaign. Shadai Race Horse president Tetsuya Yoshida confirmed the colt remains on the shortlist pending final selection.
“If he’s selected, we would absolutely welcome the challenge,” Yoshida said. While acknowledging that Jantar Mantar has primarily been campaigned at a mile, he hinted at a broader vision. “We’d like to show a different dimension of Jantar Mantar by stretching him out.”
If both runners line up, the Dubai Turf could once again showcase the depth, versatility, and global ambition of Japanese racing — with proven champions stepping onto one of the sport’s most competitive international stages.
