Johanis Aranguren
JOHANIS ARANGUREN got her first victory when ridden BOURBON STATE in Race 1 at Tampa Bay Downs on January 10th, 2026. Won by a narrow margin the Venezuela native not just obtained her first winning ride but also she wrote history becoming just the second jockette from Venezuela to win a race in United States. That first jockette was Sonia Mariano who back in 1990 rode several winners in the now extinct Calder Race Course.
Johanis is the daughter of professional jockey Johan Aranguren, who’s still active in Venezuela and supports her career.
In an exclusive interview with Carlos Morales – Agentes 305, Johanis shared her emotions on this first victory, as well as her plans on staying for the entire meeting at Tampa Bay Downs and what could be next for here after the Central Florida racetrack finishes their 100th Anniversary meeting.
